Bishop Ordinations May 23, 2015

H.H. Pope Tawadros II will officiate the Holy Liturgy at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Al Abbasiya, Cairo, Egypt on May 23, 2015.  During this liturgy H.H. Pope Tawadros II, with our fathers the Metropolitans and Bishops, will enthrone and ordain some new bishops. More information to follow.

  1. H.G. Bishop Boktor (Victor), formerly Hegomen Monk Bishoy Al-Muharaqy, as a General Bishop to serve in the Diocese of Al Wadi Al Gadeed.
  2. H.G. Bishop Youakim (Joakim), formerly Hegomen Monk Bakhoum Al-Bakhoumy, as a General Bishop to serve in the Diocese of Esna and Armant.
  3. H.G. Bishop Ilarion, formerly Hegomen Monk Ilarion Ava Mina, as a General Bishop to serve in the Diocese of Ezbet El Haganna, Almaza and Nasr City.
  4. H.G. Bishop Iklemandos, formerly Hegomen Monk Iklemandos Ava Mina, as a General Bishop to serve in the Diocese of Eastern Canada.
  5. H.G. Bishop Mark, formerly Hegomen Monk Apollo Anba Bishoy, as a General Bishop to serve in the Diocese of Paris, France.

Newly Ordained Bishops:

  1. H.G. Bishop Isaac, formerly Khouri Abiskobos Isaac, as a general bishop.  His Grace is a graduate with a bachelor of science. He joined Al Surian Monastery in 1963 and was ordained a monk in 1964. He was the assistant to H.E. Metropolitan Pachomius.
  2. H.G. Bishop Bemwa, formerly Fr. Arsanious El Abanoubi, as a bishop of the Diocese of Suez. His Grace is a graduate with a bachelor of commerce. He joined the monastery in 1996 and was ordained a monk in 1999.
  3. H.G. Bishop Isaac, formerly Fr. Isaac El Anba Bishoy, as general bishop.  His Grace is a graduate with a bachelor of science. He joined the monastery in 1996 and was ordained a monk in 1999.  He will serve as an assistant bishop to H.E. Metropolitan Abraam of Al Fayuum.
  4. H.G. Bishop Karas, formerly Fr. Karas El Anba Bishoy, as general bishop to serve Cairo.  He joined the monastery in 1994 and was ordained a monk in 1993.
  5. H.G. Bishop Angelos, formerly Fr. Sharobim Al Baramousy, as a general bishop to serve Cairo. His Grace is a graduate with a degree in medicine.  He joined the monastery in 1991 and was ordained a monk in 1995.
  6. H.G. Bishop Markos, formerly Fr. Mark Ava Mina, as a general bishop to serve Cairo. His Grace is a graduate with a bachelor of commerce. He joined the monastery in 1994 and was ordained in 1997.
  7. H.G. Bishop Pavli, formerly Fr. Paul of Sinai, as a general bishop to serve Cairo. His Grace is a graduate with a degree in engineering in 1991. He joined the monastery in 1994 and was ordained in 1997. He is the first monk to enter the Monastery of St. Moses.

On Sunday, March 2, 2014, H.H. Pope Tawadros II, along with 22 venerable metropolitans and bishops, consecrated the altar of the Church of Pope Kyrillos VI in St. Mina Monastary in Maryout.  The other church altars were consecrated in the name of St. Mina and St. Antonious.

Pope Tawadros also ordained 5 monks to the priesthood. In order they are:

  1. Father Pavli Ava Mina
  2. Father Matthew Ava Mina
  3. Father Jerome Ava Mina
  4. Father Makar Ava Mina
  5. Father Ambrose Ava Mina

Pope Tawadros also elevated 7 monk-priests to the order of Hegomen. In order they are:

  1. Father Serapion Ava Mina
  2. Father Thaddeus Ava Mina
  3. Father Prusnovius Ava Mina
  4. Father Epiphanius Ava Mina
  5. Father Antonius Ava Mina
  6. Father Makarios Ava Mina
  7. Father Isaac Ava Mina
