Nomahegan Park - Cranford, NJ5k Run LogoOn Saturday, June 14, 2008 St. George & St. Shenouda Coptic Orthodox Church of Jersey City, NJ hosted The “Exercise Your Spirit” 5k Run! It was held at Nomahegan Park in Cranford, New Jersey. It was a beautiful sunny day with the temperature at 88 degrees.

We were blessed by our Reverend Fathers, Fr. David Bebawy and Fr. Anthony Basily who came and attended. We raised over 7,000 dollars in pledges and donations to build our new church. We had a huge turnout of people to support our 57 runners. There was in attendance around 150 people for the race and BBQ. The winners each received an Ipod Shuffle for the tremendous feat they accomplished.

His Holiness Has A Succesful Surgery

His Holiness Pope Shenouda III has successfully undergone surgery in Cleveland to repair a broken thigh bone. The Surgery lasted one hour Thursday at the Cleveland Clinic. CLEVELAND, June 12 /PRNewswire/ — “H. H. Pope Shenouda III, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the sea of St. Mark, underwent a one-hour surgery at the Cleveland Clinic this morning to repair his broken left femur after he suffered a fall. The surgery was successful and he is recovering well. He will remain in the hospital for approximately one week and then receive physical rehabilitation as a part of his recovery,” said Wael Barsoum, M.D., orthopaedic surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic.

Update on the Health of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III

June 11, 2008 – X-rays revealed a fracture to the left femur with no indicated fractures to the pelvis. According to the initial consultation, it was recommended that supportive metal be used to stabilize the fracture through minor surgery with local anesthesia. The surgery is to take place in the hospital in Cleveland, Ohio under the care of his personal doctors. (Click here for story)

June 11, 2008 – According to the Associated Press, H.H. has been flown to the United States after sustaining a fracture to his thigh bone. H.H. will require surgery. President Hosni Mubarak ordered his government to provide a special ambulance plane to fly the patriarch to the United States, reported the official MENA news agency. (Click here for story)
